About the Piano Teacher

Multi-tasking as usual!

I’m Dan Shure and I have a unique passion for making music coupled by a love for sharing this excitement with children.

Drawing from a wide variety of music such as classical, jazz, blues, rock, reggae, Latin American Music, Gospel and Spiritual Music, all of which I have performed professionally, I use these as resources to enhance the lessons well beyond the usual material of a traditional classical piano lesson.

I also have experience with drums and percussion, bass guitar and saxophone and many other areas of music such as recording/production, songwriting and electronic music.

Past Teaching Experience

In the past 10+ years I have had the opportunity to teach at a number of places, including;

* University of New Hampshire Piano Extension Program
* Brewster Academy – Wolfboro, NH
* Musical Arts of Exeter – Exeter, NH
* Rye Public School District – Rye, NH
* Quality Music Lessons – Salem, NH
* Evolving Music Education – Holden, MA

Musical Background

I have been involved with music my entire life. My musical education began with piano lessons at the age of five. By following my heart and instinct I’ve had the opportunity to explore an unusually diverse amount of musical styles and settings.

Why Music?

Making music has multiple benefits for children and adults alike; mental, emotional, physical, social and even spiritual. These benefits are especially strong when study starts at an early age; and too long to list here!

Personally, music has never really felt like a “choice” rather just that one thing in my life I have always loved to do.

Personal Background

I was born in 1979, and grew up in Burlington, Massachusetts. I attended the University of New Hampshire where I received a BA in Piano Performance (and graduated with honors not to mention!). After graduating, I stuck around the Seacoast NH area for a while where I had a studio of about 30 students in Rye, NH and performed extensively throughout New England. In 2007, I married and moved with my wife Sarah to Holden, MA.

Professional Recordings

Links coming soon, they didn’t make the transfer from my old website…

For anyone interested, here are a few CD’s I’ve recorded.

Dan Shure Music – NEW! I’ve created a home for the music I’ve recorded recently (past few years).

The Press Project – Preview our album. – The last band I played with from Seacoast NH, for which I wrote much of the music. The link takes you to “CD Baby” where you can preview or buy the album, and you can also find it on iTunes.

Analog Method – Preview our album – A 60′s jazz meets modern electronica instrumental group co-formed by myself and talented drummer Mike Walsh. Active from 2001 – 2006. The link is also for “CD Baby” but you can find our album on iTunes as well.

Zumbao Tres – Preview Album – Latin jazz group led by drummer/percussionist Jose Duque. I was the pianist for this group from 2005 – 2007 and still perform with them on occasion. This album was recorded in 2006. The link is also to preview or buy the album from CD Baby and it is also on iTunes.

Web Marketing

again, links coming back soon… sorry!

Aside from music, I also do web marketing, search engine optimization and web programming. My other new business, “evolving SEO”, is just getting up and running. I’m also involved with my father’s sculpture businesses. Time for a nap!

Giust Gallery – My father’s other business. Selling plaster replicas of famous sculptures.

Piano Tuner in Boston, Donnelly Piano Service – Eric Donnelly is a great friend and excellent piano technician. I helped him create his website.

Skylight Studios – My father’s sculpture studio and my other place of employment (no, I don’t sculpt, but my dad does!) Some people might recognize the Central Mass Korean War Memorial, Sigmund Freud (Clark University) – both bronze sculptures in Worcester created and sculpted by my dad. His studio also helped renovate the exterior architecture of Union Station in Worcester.

Mico Kaufman – Sculptor of the most Official Presidential Inaugural Medallions. I had the honor of creating this website for him.
